Here we are, fast approaching the 42nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival – just one day before The Day itself – on March 16!  Last year’s event was a tremendous success despite some challenging weather, but, as Parade Chair, I have ordered up a more typical San Diego day for our enjoyment. 
 
This year’s theme is “Unity with Peace in Ireland, and Beyond”; recognizing the many daunting challenges people around the world face finding a home filled with love and goodwill rather than fear and violence. Each and every one of us must do what we can to make that dream a reality. 
 
It is in that spirit that we will come together in our little corner of the globe (that being 6th and Laurel) to celebrate this “day of the Irish”, and the continued efforts of so many people to promote peace there, and around the world.
 
As usual, the parade will start at 10:30 a.m. on Fifth Avenue at Laurel Street. The festival grounds will open at 9:00 a.m. with live entertainment throughout the day, ending at 6:00 p.m. We will have an expanded kids area and the entire venue will be open to family members of all ages.
 
Please join us in this celebration, bring your friends, and wear a little of the green!
